Club Tropika
CLUB TROPIKA
Planned for 2011. International co-production building towards the film Detour-en-route to a Movie. Club Tropika will involve five dancers/performers from Rio for a unique fusion of live performance, circus, music and film (see gallery for the work in progress Capture the Spirit). The audience will be welcomed into the setting of a 50’s style nightclub: hints of burlesque inspire the strange and exotic acts. Inspired by film noir the story of the club will emerge with each character’s back-story projected on film. The piece uses extreme physicality and a unique movement language developed by Dudendance involving the physical manipualtion of the body by internal and external forces. Dudendance will initially create the piece in Rio as a site-specific version for transient public spaces before coming to Glasgow to film in the atmospheric lanes and back alleys surrounding the Arches Theatre. Dudendance are currently seeking interested co-producing partners for residencies and production. Partners would also be hosts to the finished film thus acting as co-producers for the movie. Dudendance will develope an innovative workshop programme around the physical work process of the piece. Please contact Dudendance for further details.
